HAPPY HOLIDAYS is an clear orange red daylily trimmed with gold teeth on
the petals and sepals. In full sun, the throat starts out green in the morning and fades to yellow by evening.
The cross, Munson 1000, now owned by Mee Ying, is a clear purple Munson seedling without teeth. Ragamuffin gave up her teeth;
Strong clear and clean color for teeth daylilies is rare. And the teeth shown are not temperature related.
You can hybridize this daylily with confidence to reds, pinks, oranges, and purples and expect first generation clean colors;  fertile both ways. One word of note HAPPY HOLIDAYS does not make big crowns

Amply named because it towers over virtually every daylily in the garden. It reminds us of the famous tale of Jack and the Beanstalk where the giant is descending on pursuit of Jack. The beanstalk is swaying in the wind as Jack starts his chopping process. Scapes sometimes lean when wet or heavy with pods. This is a very important parent for those hybridizing for giant tall flowers and perhaps the tallest daylily you can grow. Not recommended for the South. The flower is an 8-9 inch golden yellow with 12-15 buds and 2-3 way branching. Scape height varies from 62-70 inches. Dormant and fertile both ways. (Braided Lightning X Tet. Spindazzle) This bright red star shaped crispate blooms on a straight strong 40" scape that never leans and displays up to 28 of these big 8" blooms up and out on 3 nicely staggered laterals and a terminal cluster. An 8" narrow red with a lacey white edge on a big vigorous true blue-green hard dormant plant. Indispensable for the hybridizer trying to put edges on the red spiders. Fertile both ways, but a difficult pod-parent in full sun. Re-blooms
