HAPPY HOLIDAYS is an clear orange red daylily trimmed with gold teeth on
the petals and sepals. In full sun, the throat starts out green in the morning and fades to yellow by evening.
The cross, Munson 1000, now owned by Mee Ying, is a clear purple Munson seedling without teeth. Ragamuffin gave up her teeth;
Strong clear and clean color for teeth daylilies is rare. And the teeth shown are not temperature related.
You can hybridize this daylily with confidence to reds, pinks,
oranges, and purples and expect first generation clean colors; fertile both ways.
One word of note HAPPY HOLIDAYS does not make big crowns

The triangular flower has a large pattern that is mimicked on the sepals. The eye itself has many bands of charcoal, lavender, rose and burgundy. The petal self is a clear yellow. But what makes this flower so unique is that the pattern eye flares out on the midribs to reach all the way to the petal edges. Everyone sees different things in this flower, but a number of garden visitors at Le Petit Jardin were taken with what they saw as an image of the crucifixion burned in this flower with a halo mirrored on the sepals, and asked Ted to name it appropriately. Amply named because it towers over virtually every daylily in the garden. It reminds us of the famous tale of Jack and the Beanstalk where the giant is descending on pursuit of Jack. The beanstalk is swaying in the wind as Jack starts his chopping process. Scapes sometimes lean when wet or heavy with pods. This is a very important parent for those hybridizing for giant tall flowers and perhaps the tallest daylily you can grow. Not recommended for the South. The flower is an 8-9 inch golden yellow with 12-15 buds and 2-3 way branching. Scape height varies from 62-70 inches. Dormant and fertile both ways. Mini-UF since its petals and sepals twist and turn.
Since it is slightly larger than a mini, it's registered it as a small
flower. This exquisite bloom is a pale vanilla cream with an explosive
layered blue violet eye, outlined in magenta, that covers most of the
flower face. The sepals have an unusual pattern of blue violet, outlined
in magenta, that compliments the petals. A large lacquered citron-green
throat, beautifully accents this unique flower. Well branched with
a high bud count and sinfully fertile. Every pollination results in
a pod with outstanding results. An early bloomer, LEDGEWOOD’S

Here is another uniquely different cultivar. These flowers are very dark in color and interestingly enough have yellow edged sepals as well as petals. Scapes have five-way branching with 26 buds that are well displayed and spaced. The eye forms an interesting shape on the petals also. Fertile both ways.

a very interesting seedling because the color of the watermark
is unique being a light apricot |
